The formats changed &mdash; GLL, SOFA, DAFF &mdash; but the discipline is identical: read the data faithfully, understand exactly what each number means, and build tools that let you look at it from every angle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Standing on old code<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This project has deep roots in my own history: <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/CWBudde\/PasSofa\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PasSofa<\/a>, an Object Pascal reader for SOFA files from 2017, later ported to JavaScript as WebSofa; and small task-specific tools like <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/CWBudde\/XL2-marker-shifter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">XL2-marker-shifter<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why CLI tools?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The old measurement programs were Windows GUI applications. The new ones are libraries with thin CLI frontends: scriptable, pipeable, automatable, runnable on a headless box next to the measurement rig. Go&#8217;s single-binary deployment is a perfect fit &mdash; and the same code compiles to WebAssembly, so you can <a href=\"https:\/\/cwbudde.github.io\/gll-tools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">try it online<\/a>: load a GLL file and explore the visualization right in your browser.
